- Join us March 10th at 12pm at West Side Comedy Club for another installment of:Comics Helping Comics! Our panel of industry veterans, including Felicia Madison, Eddie Brill & J. R. Havlan (with more names to be announced soon) will offer words of wisdom, anecdotal stories, and provide insight into what has and has not worked for them on their comedy journeys. - Learn the ropes of hosting a stand-up show. From timing and transitions to crowd control and even hecklers, Charles McBee will give you his tools to guide you through the art of hosting using your charisma, wit, and the perfect punchline.About Charles McBee:Charles McBee is a highly respected NYC stand-up comedian and television writer who has written for several TV shows, including Uncommon Sense and Uncommon Sense Live with Charlamagne Tha God, VH1's Hip Hop Honors 2017, and was also a creative consultant on Nick Cannon's Wild N Out. He's also worked on the 2020 VMAs and the 2021 Golden Globes and, most recently, was the head writer for Comedy Central's Hell Of A Week with Charlamagne Tha God.Charle's joke writing ability has gotten him much work in stand-up comedy. Still, he's also leveraged his excellent hosting skills to become an even higher commodity. - Audit Comedy 101 with Chanel Ali
- Are you interested in becoming a comic? Do you need to brush up on your skills? Join us for Comedy 101! Our instructors focus on the basics, and students begin to find their voice and define their style onstage. Our 6-week course reviews topics including where to find material, joke structures, writing skills & stage presence, the basics of crafting a set, and how to be in the moment. Then the course will conclude with a show at West Side Comedy Club, providing students the opportunity to perform their 5-minute set in front of a live audience. Please note: Final Performances are recorded and subject to be used on our social media platforms. Our instructors are all working comics themselves with credits to their name; they can speak directly to the industry as it is today. Chanel Ali, who will teach this session, is a standup comedian who blossomed on the Philadelphia circuit before taking her commanding stage presence to NYC. - This Advanced 6-week course will focus on writing techniques, stage presence, and help you continue to hone your unique comedy voice. Every week you will have the opportunity to get onstage and receive feedback in order to level-up your 5-minute set. The class concludes with a show at West Side Comedy Club, providing students the opportunity to perform onstage in front of a live audience, and receive a professional recording of their set (please note recordings are subject to be used on our social media platforms). All of our instructors are working comics themselves with credits to their name; they are able to speak directly to the industry as it is today. - Join comedian Eddie Brill for a 5-hour intensive workshop where you will receive individual coaching on the spot from Eddie, as well as from fellow classmates. This workshop allows for a unique student-teacher perspective in the process of building a firm foundation for you to easily understand how to truly be yourself onstage.Please come prepared with at least 5 minutes of material. About Eddie Brill: Eddie Brill is a well respected and very funny stand up comedian here in the USA and abroad.For seventeen years, he worked on The Late Show with David Letterman. He was the audience warm-up and for eleven of those years he was the Stand Up Comedy Talent Coordinator. Eddie has taped more than 100 TV shows in six different countries, including ten appearances on The Late Show and on an Emmy nominated episode of the FX hit series, “Louie.”He has been seen in many films including, “30 Years To Life” with Tracy Morgan.
