  • EDDIE BRILL COMEDY WORKSHOP
  • Join comedian Eddie Brill for a 5-hour intensive workshop where you will receive individual coaching on the spot from Eddie, as well as from fellow classmates. This workshop allows for a unique student-teacher perspective in the process of building a firm foundation for you to easily understand how to truly be yourself onstage.Please come prepared with at least 5 minutes of material. About Eddie Brill: Eddie Brill is a well respected and very funny stand up comedian here in the USA and abroad.For seventeen years, he worked on The Late Show with David Letterman. He was the audience warm-up and for eleven of those years he was the Stand Up Comedy Talent Coordinator.  Eddie has taped more than 100 TV shows in six different countries, including ten appearances on The Late Show and on an Emmy nominated episode of the FX hit series, “Louie.”He has been seen in many films including, “30 Years To Life” with Tracy Morgan.  A 3-time MAC award winner for Outstanding Male Comic in NYC, Eddie was the architect and Creative Director of The Great American Comedy Festival which honors Johnny Carson in his hometown of Norfolk, NE.Along with Norman Lear, Eddie helped create the comedy writing program at Emerson College in Boston.He has hosted his own podcasts and is now the interviewer for the American Comedy Archives.Student Testimonials:"Just wanted to thank you for a great workshop yesterday.Your feedback was really helpful, incredibly encouraging, and lifted my spirit!I really really appreciated it.   • Comedy 101 with Chanel Ali
  • Are you interested in becoming a comic? Do you need to brush up on your skills? Join us for Comedy 101, where our instructors focus on the basics, and students begin to find their voice and define their style onstage.Our 6-week course reviews topics including where to find material, joke structures, writing skills & stage presence, the basics of crafting a set, and how to be in the moment. The course concludes with a show at West Side Comedy Club, providing students the opportunity to perform their 5-minute set in front of a live audience. Please note: Final Performances are recorded and subject to be used on our social media platforms. Our instructors are all working comics themselves with credits to their name; they can speak directly to the industry as it is today. Chanel Ali will teach this session.Please note Comedy 101 is a prerequisite for all of our advanced classes; following the student showcase, teachers will make their recommendations regarding a student’s advancement. She didn’t know it was a contest and she won! She has been writing and teaching comedy ever since.   • Comedy for Teens! Summer Camp / Intensive with Mina Hartong
  • Are you interested in trying your hand at comedy? Are you looking for a creative release? Do you have something snarky to say but nowhere to say it? Then Comedy for Teens is for you! This week-long summer camp / intensive will introduce you to the world of standup comedy and is an excellent opportunity for those looking to work on their confidence in public speaking. You’ll learn about stage presence, mic handling, the basics of joke structure, and comedy writing skills, leading you to kill your first 5-minute set. The class will conclude with a show at West Side Comedy Club, where students can get on stage and try out their newly minted set in front of a live audience. Everyone who performs will walk away with a professional quality recording of their set to take home.Our instructors are working comics themselves with credits to their name; they can speak directly to the industry as it is today.At FUNY Standup, The Standup Comedy School, we are passionate about helping people find their funny.Please note this course is designed for High School Students (14 -18 years old)A Note from Mina: Hey Funny People!
